Jeff Mittelman (Canada) supports cutting-edge technology for children with autism
Canadian donor Jeff Mittelman has generously donated mobile devices and equipment to implement new cutting-edge technology for special needs students.
The Yachdav elementary school for special needs students recently partnered with AT&T, the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo and The Tel Aviv Foundation to develop a unique location-based app to increase the independence of students at the lower end of the autism spectrum.
Usually, in order to walk from the school bus to the classroom, the classroom to the bathroom or any other room in the school, students must be walked by a staff member. The new augmented reality app enables students to move freely around the school and manage their day to day without constant supervision.
The app was developed by AT&T in conjunction with the IT department of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. Thanks to Jeff Mittelman, the project has proceeded to the implementation phase.
