A new hospital with a total investment of about $390 million, which is expected to be the largest rehabilitation hospital in Israel, is being established in Tel Aviv.

The Jusidman Family Foundation will donate 200 million NIS, which constitutes a significant anchor donation, for the establishment of the new campus of the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital, in collaboration with the Tel Aviv Foundation and led by the Reuth Association. The remaining funding will come from additional municipal, governmental, and private sources.

The donation reflects a strategic philanthropic vision and constitutes a cornerstone of the hope strategy led by the Tel Aviv Foundation in its 50th anniversary year. The donation of the Jusidman Family Foundation constitutes a significant part of the hospital’s establishment costs and assisted in turning the project into a reality. The establishment of the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital is a flagship project in the municipal investment portfolio and one of the most important strategic health initiatives in Israel.

The Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital, under the management of Dr. Orit Stein Reisner, is expected to relocate its activity from the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood to a new campus in Sde Dov which will be named the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital. Its construction is expected to be completed in about 6 years, and constitutes a reality-changing move in the worlds of urbanism, rehabilitation, and geriatrics in Israel. It will include, among other things, about 540 beds, a trauma clinic, an expanded rehabilitative day-hospitalization array, innovative treatment spaces, an imaging institute, a hydrotherapy pool, advanced institutes and clinics, an incubator for research and development, and green spaces for the benefit of the patients and the families. Adjacent to the hospital building, a new public housing building is expected to be built with about 250 housing units.

Ron Huldai, Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo and Chairman of the Tel Aviv Foundation: “The establishment of the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital is another significant step in strengthening the rehabilitative medical service array in Israel. Tel Aviv-Yafo as a leading city also in the field of public health enlists for the rehabilitation needs, for which unfortunately there is an enormous demand for the war casualties, the trauma victims, and anyone who needs a real opportunity to return to independent and full life. The generous donation of the Jusidman Family Foundation expresses deep trust in the ability of the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo and the Tel Aviv Foundation to lead reality-changing moves. Through the Foundation, we are implementing a vision of health, resilience, and hope, which will affect the lives of the female and male residents of the city and of the citizens of Israel for many years ahead.”

Yigal Jusidman, representative of the family foundation:

For many years, the field of rehabilitation medicine did not receive its proper place in the healthcare system in Israel. A long and painful war was required to remind us all how vital rehabilitation is for restoring life, dignity, and independence to people who were harmed.

Through the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital, we wish to take part in the recovery journey of those who defended the State of Israel and paid a heavy personal price for it. In establishing a world-class rehabilitation center, we aspire to honor their sacrifice and accompany them on the way to healing, hope, and new life.

This is our way to say thank you for your service, for your commitment, and for your sacrifice.

Dr. Hila Oren, CEO of the Tel Aviv Foundation: “In its 50th anniversary year, the Tel Aviv Foundation chooses to place hope at the heart of the action. The generous donation of the Jusidman Family Foundation illustrates how strategic philanthropy, led by the Foundation, allows turning a municipal vision into a life-changing reality and strengthens the resilience of Tel Aviv-Yafo and of the entire State of Israel. I thank the Jusidman Family Foundation for the trust and for the partnership, and the Mayor for setting a clear and long-term municipal vision, thanks to which it is possible to execute reality-changing moves.”

Chairman of the Reuth Association, Prof. Nachman Ash: “The long-standing partnership with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and the Tel Aviv Foundation is very moving and especially critical in establishing a strategic national project to advance rehabilitation and geriatrics in Israel. As a former Director General of the Ministry of Health and as the current Chairman of Reuth, I know up close the growing need from year to year for these services in the entire country, and even more so, in light of the events in recent years and in light of the aging of the population. The hospital already serves today patients from Dan to Eilat and thanks to the generous donation of the Jusidman Family Foundation we will be able to increase the amount of rehabilitation and geriatric patients in Israel and improve their hospitalization conditions considerably. We are operating in cooperation and coordination with the Ministries of Health and Finance in order to finalize the scope of the government support for this significant project.”
