Mayor Huldai Addresses The 2nd German-Israel Congress
The special partnership that exists between the cities of Frankfurt, Germany and Tel Aviv, Israel was highlighted at the 2nd Annual German-Israel Congress, held in Frankfurt on October 23rd, 2011. This confrence stands as the largest pro-Israel event in Europe. Politicians from Israel, Germany, the European Union, the United States and numerous other nations were represented. The event was organized by Claudia Korenke, an accomplished PR manager and Vice President of the German Israeli Friendship Society (DIG), with the expressed purpose of rallying support towards German-Israeli relationship building.
Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo Ron Huldai, a key note speaker to the 3,000 delegate congress, expressed his vision and support for the partnership between Tel Aviv and its German twin/sister cities. His speech is attached. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for the mayor to confer with his long-time friend, the Mayor of Frankfurt, Ms. Petra Roth, as well as other politicians and Israel supporters.
Apart from inspiring speeches and panel discussions, exhibition booths representing 160 charitable organisations were on display. Elke Treviranus, proudly represented the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation in its booth. This is the first time the Foundation has participated in an event of this magnitude in Germany, and we were thrilled to share our many accomplishments and current projects with the attendees.
