The Shaked Parent-Child Center
Plans are in place for the establishment of The Shaked Parent-Child Center to support the needs of at-risk families in the Shapira Neighborhood of Tel Aviv. The new facility, designated for family support services, will be built on the top floor of a newly designed municipal building. The bottom floors of the building will support the physical needs of elderly individuals with disabilities. The new Shaked Parent-Child Center will be under the auspices of “Shapirim”, the Southern division of social welfare services for the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
The Shaked Center will offer a warm and welcoming environment for at-risk neighborhood families, with children aged 5-12, who have emotional and/or behavior problems that arise from their unstable family backgrounds. The children and parents have ongoing problems that impact their ability to function in multiple areas of their lives. The families will now have a support system awaiting them at the Shaked Center in their times of crisis, such as: divorce, sickness, loss of life, depression, inability to communicate, and during periods of bereavement. For five days of the week, the therapy and activity rooms at the Shaked Center will bring families together so that they will be able to refocus, learn parenting skills, and function effectively in their daily lives.Read more >
