Since its establishment in 1993, The Arab Jewish Community Center (AJCC) has worked to bring together Jews, Arabs, and Christians for daily activities and coexistence initiatives. The Center promotes tolerance, understanding, and multiculturalism. Additionally, the AJCC supports the local Yafo community and its many residents from low socio-economic backgrounds. All programs and projects implemented by the Community Center encourage sustainable long-term relationships between Arabs and Jews, build alliances, and assist Yafo’s underprivileged population in lifting themselves from poverty. The AJCC remains the only municipally-funded mixed community center in the country. Through its years of activities the center has created a thriving community; approximately 600-700 people visit the center each day, totaling an average of 3000 each week.
