The independence Park on Hayarkon Street was dedicated by Nachum Kalka from Tel Aviv, New York and Tampa, USA. Nachum and Haya Kalka, family members and friends from Israel and around the world, dedicated the reconstructed and upgraded, Independence Park.
In 1952, Independence Park was dedicated along the sea shore of Tel Aviv. The park was very special and exceptional for its vegetation which grew in a salty environment near the beach. There were observation points, a mosaic decorative pool, a performance stage, interesting statues, a playground, wide lawns, bushes and beautiful trees. Over the years, the park fell into neglect and dilapidation, bringing most Tel Aviv residents to avoid it completely. Mayor Ron Huldai decided to renovate and restore the park, giving it back to the city residents in time for the centennial celebration.
Thanks to the generous donation of Nachum Kalka, an innovative builder and contractor in the city, born in and lover of Tel-Aviv. Nachum lives vis-à-vis the park and in addition to his generous donation, was also an active and invaluable advisor in the entire reconstruction process along with architect Zvi Dekel.
