hemda - the center for science education

"the future lies in education"
albert einstein in a letter to david ben gurion - 1951

Hemda (an acronym for science education and literally translated in Hebrew to desire) was established in 1991 by the Rothschild Foundation in cooperation with the Municipality of Tel Aviv and the Weizmann Institute.

Hemda is the learning center for science education, led by an elite team of educators, most who hold doctoral degrees and represent Israel’s top research institutions such as the Weizmann Institute, Tel Aviv University and the Technion Institute of Science.

The goal of Hemda is to give the opportunity to every gifted student in Tel Aviv-Jaffa in the field of science to study physics and chemistry at the highest level.  Additionally, Hemda strives to build the new cadre of scientists for Research & Development (R&D) in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and/or academic institutions, who will lead the State of Israel and the world into the future.

More information on Hemda can be found in the proposal and informational video below as well as by visiting the Hemda website.
